Job vacancy: Youth Program Manager, VSO Zimbabwe

Youth Program Manager: VSO Zimbabwe

VSO is an International development organisation that contributes towards addressing poverty and disadvantage through the placement of International skilled professional volunteers with national partners.

VSO Zimbabwe is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious development professional who will raise the profile of VSO Zimbabwe and take VSO’s country programme to the next level in terms of youth programming. You will play a leading role in the delivery of VSO Zimbabwe’s youth programming. You will possess experience in a similar programme management role and have a strong track record of successfully and consistently working with youths across the cultural in development programmes.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of the youth programme of the VSO country strategic plan.
- Identify funding opportunities through developing strong working relationships with donors and partners.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the youth programme in Zimbabwe and ensure that annual targets for delivery and quality standards are established and met.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews with key stakeholders and implement learning continually building on the success of the youth programmes.
- Lead in the recruitment and training of the youth programme team to enable their own professional and personal development and maximise their performance team.
- Support VSO Zimbabwe’s youth programme team in the development, management and monitoring of programme budgets (including ensuring value for money) to maximise impact in line with VSO country strategic plan.
- Manage the recruitment, selection and training of national volunteers for the youth programme and support on-going engagement of national youth volunteers.
- Work closely with the programme support team to induct, orient and provide on-going support to volunteers.
- With support of the SMT members, be responsible for the duty of care and safety and security of all volunteers under the youth programme and staff and deal with any emergencies that might arises.
- Develop and establish new networks with key stakeholders (donors/other agencies/volunteers/partners etc) to strengthen programme impact and ensure that volunteer placements are viable, effective and rewarding and maximise volunteer learning.
- Lead the design and delivery of appropriate monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, determine the impact and ensure continuous development and learning takes place.

The essential requirements for this post are
- Experience of designing and evaluating youth programmes
- Strong leadership experience in strategic planning and programme delivery
- Ability to develop clear and realistic plans to deliver agreed objectives within deadlines, involving key stakeholders in the process
- Ability to manage budgets and undertake accounting procedures and good writing skills
- Excellent networking, negotiation and communication skills
- A minimum of a degree in Social Sciences or in a related field
- Technical expertise in the area of youth programming
- Able to travel and work long hours, including work away from the home base, both within the country and occasionally internationally
- Zimbabwean citizen
- Clean, valid driving license

CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organization that specializes in sexual health, HIV and AIDS research in Zimbabwe. The organization is implementing a National Sex Work Programme aimed at reducing HIV acquisition among sex workers thereby reducing HIV transmission to their clients. We received funding to conduct a research that seeks to enhance HIV treatment and prevention among sex workers (SW) attending our mobile clinics in Zimbabwe. Social Development Officer: Local NGO
Deadline: 22 July 2013 (12 noon)

Contract: 8 months

The Social Development Officer will be responsible for coordinating and implementing social programmes, specifically
-Programme development, oversight and delivery of outputs
-Co-ordinating teams to implement components of the programme
-Planning for pre and post data collection including design of instruments, implementation of field surveys and data management
-Publication of scholarly reports on various programme components
-Presenting findings to identified platforms and sharing widely, including presenting at high level forums
-Budgeting for the programme, ensuring financial reports for the programme
-Compilation of regular progress and assessment reports
-Networking and marketing the programme
-Resources mobilisation for the programme

Skills and competencies
-Masters Degree in Social Sciences or related fields. A PhD is an added advantage
-Ability to speak strongly at high level platforms; proven track record of publications an added advantage
-Strong competence in Quantitative Data Collection and Analysis, full knowledge of CSPro and other statistical packages an added advantage
-Strong competence and experience in Qualitative data collection and analysis
-Proven leadership roles in various institutions, and a team player, able to manage teams implementing components of the programme
-Interpersonal skills essential, knowledge of Ndebele and Tonga added advantage

What is a Junior Professional?
The programme aims to grow a Junior Professional into a future senior practitioner with a solid grounding in the technical foundation of one of SNV’s sectors: Agriculture, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) or Renewable Energy. You are offered a 2-year fixed-term appointment in one of the countries where SNV works. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer: Zimbabwe Aids Prevention Project Department Of Community Medicine University Of Zimbabwe

The Zimbabwe AIDS Prevention Project, a Department of Community Medicine, University of Zimbabwe project has funding to conduct a PMTCT program in Mashonaland Central Province.  The program is aimed at strengthening health facilities as well as increasing ANC uptake through enhancing community level knowledge of PMTCT.  PATH is funding the program through Population Council, South Africa.

The M&E officer will be in charge of all monitoring and evaluation data collection activities, survey work and analytical sessions for the ARISE PMTCT program. The M&E officer should be a team player expected to work closely with MHCW, ZAPP-UZ and Population Council.

Responsibilities and key duties
-Conducting Provincial and district training on M&E for HW and Community Mobilizers
-Review collate and analyze data from sites for accuracy and completeness
-Prepare quarterly progress reports
-Liase with NMRL to ensure EID test and results reach the Laboratory and facilities
-Participate in tools development
-To perform any other M&E tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and attributes
-Minimum degree in statistics, demography or public health
-3 years experience in setting up and implementing M&E activities for HIV/AIDS, RH or MCH
-Knowledge of operational research in HIV and Reproductive health programming
-Highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Proficiency in using the following packages SPSS, STATA and MS ACCESS
-Willingness to travel in the Province

Purpose of position
