Time to clean up our act

TOP del.icio.us

I went to the International Women’s day events hosted by the National Gallery of Zimbabwe last Saturday.

The pond in front of the gallery has got a pathetic bit of water in it, but enough to float the debris from Zimbabweans who sit on the edge of it and chuck their litter overboard.

It isn’t only the National Gallery of Zimbabwe that needs to keep the litter in check, its also the folk who clearly couldn’t care less about treating one of our national institutions with respect.

C’mon Zimbabweans, clean up your act.

I absolutely agree with Bev. as a people we should take pride in our surroundings and not let everything got to the dogs just because the whole nation is in an identity crisis. I have been commenting to friends and anyone who would listen that the guys running the luna park on herbert chitepo and 7th street ought to be ashamed to keep kids coming in to play and ride in a space with weeds taller than its clients. even if its rented space why cant they take pride and clean up. similarly I was outside bon marche, eastlea yesterday and their parking lot has grass as tall as me, cant they take pride and clear it. We should really launch a clean up campaign, residents and businesses have as much responsibiility for cleaning up our enviroment as the local authorities. So I add my voice to Bev’s campaign, where ever we are its time to clean up our act!!

I totally agree with Bev and Mary Jane. I want to commend Newlands Shopping Centre tenants who have come together to clean up the place. This initiative deserves all our support. Now Bon Marche Chisipite and other tenants and shopowners at that shopping centre should also clean up their act. A few metres from Bon Marche (back entrance) behind Cher Creations (furniture shop which appears closed) there is a growing rubbish dump, that needs clearing. Let’s clean up our act!!!
