Mugabe and Tsvangarai “working together” was never a realistic or desirable outcome. The pretense of a GNU was cobbled together by Mbeki as a means of maintaining Zanu-PF in power. This has been his aim all along, and he has achieved it with great skill, helped by lashings of naivety from Africans and from Westerners who worship the ANC as a result of misplaced guilt. Tsvangarai shouldn’t be working with Mugabe, because Mugabe is not capable of sharing power, he should be heading up an MDC government.
