Dear Writer,

Your piece clearly lacks comprehension of the Zimbabwe situation as it currently stands. Your view of MDC's role in the GNU is myopic as it seeks to cloud the essence of why MDC agreed to this marriage of inconvenience in the first place. You fail to articulate the fact that MDC came on board to save a a nation in distress, without the MDC, Zimbabwe would have collapsed by now. It is common knowledge that real power in Zimbabwe rests with the securocrats who are Mugabe's paid hands. The illegal activities of the security forces are supplemented by a corrupt judicial system that is also in Mugabe's pocket. How then do you expect the MDC to use its majority in the lower House when every bill they pass will be blocked by the upper House a.k.a the Senate which is controlled by Zanu PF.

Back to the Free Zimbabwe Global Protests, I am sure you are familiar with Pareto's concept of the vital few and the trivial many where he reasons that 80% of anything is achieved by 20% of the individuals concerned. As MDC, we are aware that there are many Zimbabweans who escaped Mugabe's tyranny and are now living in the diaspora, but that does not make all of them political activists. Furthermore we know based on Pareto's Law that only 20% would actually take part in the fight against Mugabe. Labeling the protests a success was premised on the fact that we achieved our goal of putting President Zuma and SADC on notice that it was no longer business as usual but that the ordinary Zimbabwean was now prepared to take matters to his own hands.
