I feel obliged to put in a personal comment here distancing myself fro the views expressed above. Way I See it is simple: independence day is like one's birthday. If it falls on the same day you loose yourparents then its s ignificance is diluted.. If it catches up with you when you are wondering the forests hungry and thirsting then yoy dont even notice its your birthday. A country and a people have 365 days a year to work and build aand relate to each other and cime up with something to cheer about relating to how they have developed and how relates ro their history
ancestry and future aspirations.there is not much glory and hope being shared by my people at this time. There has' nt been any of that For a long time. its not only about celebrating the demise of colonialism. At least not for me and to have. A post such as this posted under my name for any reason isjust so awkwardly unfair. Still KUBATANA ndizvo!
