The Nigerian author seems to think that sanctions are being applied to Zimbabwe as a whole, and are the cause of food shortages. Up to this week, sanctions applied only to about 100 people at the top of the regime. The aim being not to block food imports but to prevent Grace Mugabe from going shopping at the expense of the Zimbabwe taxpayers.

There does now seem to be an escalation of sanctions.

I hope you will read this highly enlightening piece in today’s Nigerian Guardian Newspaper. After reading it, you may want to rethink your activism and the kind of questions you are asking Mugabe. Who is actually standing for you and who is against you will be clear to you then.

Mugabe’s tyranny is a huge problem today and there does not seem to be an easy way to get him out of power and prevent the killing of lots of Zimbabweans at the same time. However, what can be done is the recognition of his crimes against humanity from the international community, specifically from other African leaders. Courageous reporting! Certainly got Bob rattled! It’s amazing how paranoid he is? Does he really imagine the “the British” would ever even entertain the idea of picking up the burden of Zimbabwe as a colony again, particularly now that it will take billions of real dollars to undo the damage done in just a few years of gross financial mismanagement and insane policies. The AU won’t dare to reprimand him either given that the democratic credentials and human rights records of most members of the club are equally disastrous.
