Another question:

Why do some gold panners complain that they do not get the full price for the gold they pan? Do they need special licenses and so on in order to be able to sell their gold at world market prices?

Another question: Are people in Zimbabwe free to hold precious metals as store of value? What is the US dollar price of one Krügerrand in Zimbabwe?

Is it common that credit notes with nominal values in excess of 99 cents are issued or is there a "maximum" with regard to what people are willing to accept being owed?

One problem that probably will get bigger and bigger is that the one-dollar-notes in Zimabwe will get in poorer and poorer condition with the result that it might be better for people to have locally issued credit notes than dollar bills.

Hi Flavian. Typically they are for the exact amount. So the shop prints out your till slip, and then prints out another slip after that - a "credit note" for the amount of change they owe you.

Do these credit notes have round and nice denominations or are they always issued to match the exact amount given as change?

I mean, are the notes in denominations like 50 cents, 25 cents, 10 cents and so on or are they in denominations like 27 cents, 19 cents and so on?
