I live just across the border in neighboring South Africa. Our feeling here is that the so-called talks are yet another sham by the Vampire of Harare to stay in power for as long as he possibly can.

Robert Mugabe knows, as do we, that if he should ever hand power over to the legitimate leader of Zimbabwe, Morgan Tsvangirai, then it's as good as a one way ticket for him to a nice jail cell in The Hague next to Rabodan Karadzic, and put swiftly on trail for torturing and murdering thousands of his fellow Zimbabweans during his 28 years of evil and corrupt rule. Or at least he should be.

The talks merely mean he can still live in the lap of luxury while his people starve or are beaten up by his loyal security forces should they happen to support the MDC.

But more sadly, the talks are almost tantamount to an acceptance by opposition parties that he is, in fact, the legitimate president of Zimbabwe. When he said recently that, "Only God can remove me from power", he certainly wasn't joking.

I don’t trust the former freedom fighter turned terrorist, and I never will. The leader of the MDC is the latest victim to be sucked into his wretched trap, and 'Little Thabo', Bob's mate down south, is using all of this as an excuse to keep his buddy in State House, downtown Harare. Indeed, the South African president is the very worst choice as mediator in this tragic story, being totally biased towards Mugabe. Ultimately, Mbeki will try to make sure that the vampire remains in power, even beyond a so-called agreement. And he will...

Remember, the leopard never changes its spots. Only the spot it sits on.

What a sham!
